Before we delve into Small Molecules it is probably worth revising chemical bonds.....................................
small molecules
What are we referring to when we say 'small molecules'?
Generally:
- non-metal atoms covalently bonded
- 10 or less atoms
They have low melting and boiling points and are poor conductors of electricity.
A few thing you need to understand in relation to small molecules
- Primary & Secondary bonds
- Polar Bonds
- Molecular Shapes
- Polar Molecules
Reading Essentials Workbook pg 15 - 36 including Q1.8 - Q1.12. Discovering Chemistry ch 4 has relevant further reading.
